Bleeding for a month?

I've been bleeding for a month now, I'm 48 and my doctor said it's because I'm near menopause. She told me to take something for 10 days and the bleeding will stop. I'm done with the ten days but the bleeding hasn't stop. I had a minor surgery last september, they took out (polyp?)..because I had thick uterus lining..is it normal for me to bleed this long considering I'm about to menopause.
