Can I bring alcohol to Doha airport?

I have a couple of stopovers at Doha airport coming up on the way to Bangkok and have heard that I if I buy alcohol at duty free in the UK when I leave it will be confied at Doha (or they just won't sell it to me). Is this right...even if I'm only there for a connection and not leaving the airport?
